Introduction

Self Vibe gift cards are a convenient way to give the gift of beauty and wellness services. These terms govern the purchase, use, and redemption of Self Vibe gift cards.

Gift cards can be purchased online and used at any participating Self Vibe partner business across our network. They make perfect gifts for friends, family, or colleagues who deserve some self-care.

By purchasing or using a Self Vibe gift card, you agree to these terms and conditions.

Purchasing gift cards

Self Vibe gift cards can be purchased through our website or mobile app:

Available Denominations

  • R250 - Perfect for a basic treatment
  • R500 - Great for premium services
  • R750 - Ideal for multiple treatments
  • R1,000 - Perfect for a full spa day
  • Custom amounts from R100 to R5,000

Payment Methods: Gift cards can be purchased using credit cards, debit cards, or EFT. All purchases are processed securely through our encrypted payment system.

Delivery: Digital gift cards are delivered instantly via email. Physical gift cards can be mailed to your specified address (additional shipping charges apply).

Personalization: Add a personal message and choose from various design templates to make your gift card special.

Redeeming gift cards

Gift cards can be redeemed at any participating Self Vibe partner business:

Online Redemption: Enter your gift card code during the booking process on our website or mobile app. The gift card value will be applied to your total.
In-Person Redemption: Present your gift card (physical or digital) at the time of payment. The business partner will process the redemption through their Self Vibe terminal.
Partial Redemption: If your purchase is less than the gift card value, the remaining balance stays on the card for future use.
Multiple Cards: You can use multiple gift cards for a single purchase, and combine gift cards with other payment methods.

Balance Checking: Check your gift card balance anytime on our website or by calling our customer service line.

Validity and expiration

Validity Period: Self Vibe gift cards are valid for 3 years from the date of purchase. This extended validity period ensures recipients have plenty of time to use their gift.

Expiration Notice: We will send email reminders 60 days and 30 days before your gift card expires, provided we have your email address.

Extension Policy: In exceptional circumstances, we may extend the validity period of a gift card. Contact our customer service team to discuss your situation.

Expired Cards: Once a gift card expires, the remaining balance cannot be used or refunded. We encourage recipients to use their gift cards well before the expiration date.

Important: Gift card expiration dates comply with South African consumer protection laws. The 3-year validity period exceeds the minimum legal requirements.

Restrictions and limitations

Please note the following restrictions on gift card usage:

Service Availability: Gift cards can only be used for services offered by participating Self Vibe partner businesses. Not all services may be available at all locations.
Booking Requirements: Some high-demand services may require advance booking. Gift card holders are subject to the same booking policies as regular customers.
Transferability: Gift cards are transferable and can be given to others. However, once redeemed, any remaining balance stays with the person who used the card.
Cash Value: Gift cards have no cash value and cannot be exchanged for cash, except where required by law.
Promotional Restrictions: Gift cards cannot be used to purchase other gift cards and may not be combined with certain promotional offers.

Partner-Specific Restrictions: Individual business partners may have additional restrictions on gift card usage. These will be clearly communicated at the time of booking.

Refunds and cancellations

Our refund policy for gift cards is designed to be fair while preventing fraud:

Unused Gift Cards: Unused gift cards can be refunded within 14 days of purchase, provided they haven't been sent to the recipient. A processing fee may apply.
Partially Used Cards: If a gift card has been partially used, only the remaining balance can be considered for refund in exceptional circumstances.
Service Cancellations: If you cancel a service paid for with a gift card, the refund will be credited back to the gift card rather than processed as a cash refund.
Business Closure: If a partner business permanently closes, we will work to transfer your gift card value to another participating business or provide a refund.

Refund Process: To request a refund, contact our customer service team with your gift card details and reason for the refund request. Processing typically takes 5-10 business days.

Lost or stolen gift cards

We understand that gift cards can be lost or stolen. Here's how we can help:

Digital Gift Cards: If you lose access to a digital gift card, we can resend it to your email address if you can provide the original purchase details.
Physical Gift Cards: Lost or stolen physical gift cards can be replaced if you have the original purchase receipt and gift card number.
Replacement Process: Contact our customer service team immediately if your gift card is lost or stolen. We'll freeze the card to prevent unauthorized use and issue a replacement.
Replacement Fee: A small administrative fee (R25) may be charged for replacement gift cards to cover processing costs.

Prevention Tips: Keep your gift card details safe and take a photo of physical cards. Register your gift card on our website to make replacement easier if needed.

Business partner obligations

Our partner businesses have specific obligations regarding gift card acceptance:

Acceptance Requirement: All active Self Vibe partners must accept gift cards for any services they offer through our platform.
Equal Treatment: Gift card holders must receive the same quality of service and booking priority as customers paying with other methods.
Processing: Partners must process gift card redemptions through the Self Vibe system to ensure proper tracking and validation.
Customer Service: Partners should assist gift card holders with any questions about redemption or balance checking.

Partner Compensation: Partners receive full payment for services rendered with gift cards, minus standard processing fees. Gift card redemptions are treated the same as regular payments.

Technical issues

If you experience technical problems with your gift card:

Common Issues: Gift card not working, balance not updating, or redemption errors during checkout.
Immediate Steps: Try refreshing the page, clearing your browser cache, or using a different device. Many issues resolve with these simple steps.

Compensation: If technical issues prevent you from using your gift card, we may extend the expiration date or provide additional compensation as appropriate.

We take gift card fraud seriously and have measures in place to protect our customers:

Purchase Monitoring: We monitor gift card purchases for suspicious activity and may require additional verification for large or unusual orders.
Usage Tracking: All gift card redemptions are tracked and logged to identify potential fraudulent activity.
Reporting Fraud: If you suspect fraudulent activity involving your gift card, report it immediately to our fraud prevention team.
Investigation Process: We investigate all fraud reports thoroughly and work with law enforcement when necessary.
